Doocey Traffic Management continue their relationship with Vocation Training Ltd, employing a new trainee Traffic Management Operative. Since then, Nathan has established a new career following successful placement in our West Midlands traffic management operation.
Vocation training is free to attend and there is an option for Traffic Management employers to take a learner on a 35 hour unpaid work trial to assess their suitability for employment in the industry. This is cost free to employers with the expectation in return to supply PPE and support the learner with industry knowledge during the work trial. A clean drug and alcohol test pass is a prerequisite for the training.
The learners study the Traffic Management industry in week one of the training and undertake the following qualifications via Up to Speed Training and Assessment Ltd in week two; TTMBC with manual handling, T1/T2, Banksman and Emergency First Aid at Work.
Nathan, 20 years old, was out of work due to COVID-19 and had been for six months before undertaking training. Prior to March 2020 Nathan had experience working in warehouses for agencies but his long-term career goal was to land a permanent job. Nathan had no experience in Traffic Management or construction. He applied to the Traffic Management training in September 2020 and started training within the same month. Nathan fully enjoyed his experience on the training leaving top marks on his evaluation form. A work trial with Doocey Traffic Management (Cradley Heath depot) was set up for Nathan to attend, he completed his 35 hour work trial between 19th October and 23rd October 2020. On the 23rd of October 2020 Nathan was informed that due to his conduct on the work trial that he was to be offered a permanent and full time position with Doocey Traffic Management.
Nathan said of his time on the programme:
‘I really recommend the training and I am very grateful for the opportunity I have had. After looking for a job for months I completed this course and got a job first time with Doocey, just days after completing the training. Doocey are a pleasure to work for and I look forward to working day to day with them.
